DID YOU KNOW?~ In Chapter 3 of THE PHOENIX MISSION, the abandoned Army airfield where Seth Phoenix boards a plane for Fort Meade is modeled after a real life abandoned Army airfield that was once a Civil War era Confederate fort along the Atlantic coast. The area later became known as Fort Fisher, an Army Air Field. At the time of its closing in 1944, Fort Fisher AAF had grown to include an 80-seat cafeteria, a 350-bed hospital and dental clinic, and covered an area of several hundred acres.
